Receiving; The Oft Forgotten Side of Faith.

How do we receive from God?

The short answer: receiving is not another action you perform — it is the posture you hold once all action has ceased. But let me give you a layered depth, because this question is actually about the mechanics of faith.

The core takeaway:
After you have done everything you can, and after you have obeyed the command to stand, the way you “receive” is by shifting from effort into agreement — from trying to make something happen to living as though God’s promise is already true in your reality.

Receiving is not striving or waiting for proof or even passivity. Receiving is alignment.

1. Receiving = Holding the inner posture that matches the promise.

In Scripture, receiving is almost always described as:

- believing you have received (Mark 11:24)
- letting the peace of Christ rule (Col. 3:15)
- resting from your works (Heb. 4:10)
- being fully persuaded (Rom. 4:21).

This means:
Once you’ve stood, stop checking the “weather” of your circumstances. Stop measuring progress and stop rehearsing the problem.

You now hold the inner posture that says: “It’s already mine in the unseen. My job now is to stay in agreement with God until the ‘seen’ catches up.”

2. Receiving = Maintaining the environment where the promise can land.

Breakthrough is not only an event — it’s an environment.

After standing, your role becomes:

- guarding your heart from contradiction
- refusing to partner with fear
- keeping your confession aligned
- staying in gratitude
- staying in expectancy
- staying in peace.

Think of it like this: You’ve planted the seed. You’ve watered it. You’ve protected it. Now receiving is simply keeping the soil healthy until the seed breaks the surface.

3. Receiving = Letting God be the one who finishes what you started.

This is the hardest part for most believers. We often think: “I’ve done everything… so what else must I do?” But Scripture flips it:

“Having done all… stand.”
“Be still and know…”
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only be silent.”
“He who began a good work will carry it on…”

Receiving is the moment you stop trying to finish the miracle yourself. It’s the surrender of the last inch of control. It’s to let go and let God.

4. Receiving = Living as though the breakthrough is already underway.

This is not pretending, it’s not delusion, it’s not the “fake it till you make it” mantra that we so often hear.

Receiving is faith expressing itself through your emotional tone, your decisions, your speech, and your expectations and what that looks like is: Thanking God before the evidence appears. It’s making decisions that assume the promise is true and speaking from victory rather than toward it. It’s refusing to rehearse the old narrative and letting joy return before the breakthrough arrives.

Receiving is embodied faith; it’s faith that’s alive in the person putting it forth.

5. Receiving = Staying in the place where God can deliver the answer.

Sometimes the final step is simply not moving. Not shifting back into self-effort, nor returning to old patterns. It’s not letting discouragement rewrite your theology, nor letting impatience push you into Ishmael-making.

Receiving is staying in the place where the blessing is addressed. If God has mailed the breakthrough, don’t change your spiritual address.

A simple definition for you could be…
Receiving means remaining in agreement with God long enough for the unseen to become seen. You don’t force it. You don’t finish it. You don’t manufacture it. You stay with it until you see the desired result.

You hold the posture of faith, remaining in peace, until God completes the work.
