The Drifter.

It’s long been known that smoking causes poorer mental and physical health, than their non-smoking counterpart, for this has been well documented. One should also be aware; it doesn’t stop at poorer mental and physical health. What’s less well known is that a smoker is more likely to have poor planning overall in life management than non-smokers; that smokers have an increased risk of intergenerational poverty, with less long-term financial security. And the list goes on…

Apart from the financial drain associated with smoking, smoking also thins the cerebral cortex, destroying the grey matter of the mind, which is the area where thinking skills come from and includes memory and learning. The thicker the cerebral cortex the better.

And apart from the obvious; mouth, tongue, throat and lung cancers associated with smoking, and the higher risk of stroke and heart disease, there’s also the stunted growth of the mind, which is hugely impacted in a negative way, particularly when the undeveloped mind starts down the smoking path.

You may or may not believe in a devil who corrupts the minds of the young (oh how he loves it, when a child begins his/her track down that smoking path), however devil aside the mind is still corrupted.

The mind of the youth, without being totally aware of it, is geared toward risky behaviour. Smoking is so tantalising to the youth, that they start without giving much thought to the long-term consequences. And this why I’ve used the label of ‘drifter.’  When the drifter takes up smoking, they start down a slippery slope without thinking of, or fully understanding the consequences.

What does smoking do that’s so bad (as if the above paragraphs aren’t horrific enough)? Cigarettes break down the power of resistance, the power of persistence and endurance and the ability to concentrate. Smoking dims learning and memory, while at the same time, increases the risk of dementia. Smoking is also the doorway drug to other types of addiction.

Millions of people around the world smoke the equivalent of two packets of cigarettes a day, gradually destroying their power of resistance. Over time, other habits of a different form will be added; drinking/drugs/gambolling and more besides. And while not every smoker will have every trait I’ve listed here, you’ll read enough to know; there’s an element of truth in what I’ve written.

Once a habit is formed, a habit generally doesn’t stop at one; they usually rise to two, three, or even more. These habits invite looseness in other areas, such as relationships, because a person with a thinning cerebral cortex has seldom told themselves ‘no’ and therefor they’ve become weak in all areas related to good decision making, having never exercised and strengthened their decision-making process.

We’re surrounded by people who are completely unconscious about life. Many parents don’t teach a child how to win at the game of life (mostly because they don’t know themselves), how to set and achieve goals or how to manage their money and so that child learns to ‘drift’ though life, without any understanding of how to overcome difficult situations.

Very young people are taking up the smoking habit, before their minds have even fully formed. And we’re all oblivious of just how detrimental smoking is, until someone wakes us up and advises us. And that’s my aim today, to inform a person to make a choice: Drifter or non-drifter. One who follows the crowd or one who thinks for themselves.

One doesn’t necessarily have to be a smoker to be a drifter either. One only needs never to have been taught goal setting, however, smoking does seem to increase the percentages of drifters, since most people start there as the gateway to the downhill slide. Other types of addiction also cause a downward spiral, even sugar.

Too much sugar can cause spikes in energy, followed by a quick energy drop, which causes depression. It can cause a person not to think clearly and they can have problems with decision making. So, I’m not particularly persecuting the smoker. All kinds of addictions can cause problems, as I’m sure you’re well aware.

Regardless of the addiction, the drifter will not set many goals and will achieve even less of them. They have poor focus and concentration skills. They aren’t used to pushing themselves beyond the easy and it’s one of the reasons quitting is difficult for them. They get it into their mind they can’t stop and so don’t even try.

A drifter lacks purpose, lacks confidence, spends all they earn and more. They are often sick or ailing, have little or no imagination, no enthusiasm, take the line of least resistance and have little or no control over emotions. They state their own opinion of everything but have little knowledge of anything. Drifters appear to acquire little of value, as they've spent their disposable money on expensive cigarettes.

They never accomplish anything that requires thought. They lack initiative. They are ill tempered; their harsh personality doesn’t attract people and they neglect to cooperate with those around them, even those on whom they depend. Often, they make the same mistakes over and over and never learn from those mistakes. Some people’s personality lacks magnetism; people don’t like to be around them.

They are narrow minded and intolerant to all, crucifying those who disagree with their views. They’re loud in their condemnation of government, but never voice how to improve the situation. They eat too much, exercise too little, gamble too often and drink too heavily. They criticize successful people and will tell a lie, rather than admit they don’t know something.

On the other hand, the devil has no control over a non-drifter, a person who is awake to the devil’s wiles. There is no glee, when the devil see’s his plan to cause a person to become addicted, has failed. And while the devil loves to see a drifter, he hates a non-drifter.

The non-drifter is always doing something definite, which sits alongside major and minor goals. The tone of voice, the sparkle in the eyes, define a non-drifter. They make quick decisions, know what they want and will take the required time go after it. They never fail to envision the way they’d like to see their life head and constantly work towards their vision. They extend favours, without expecting anything in return. They’re always up front and honest, even in games, or war. They have a good memory and never blame others for their mistakes. They enjoy helping and are an inspiration to others.

The non-drifter has a mind of his/her own and uses it all towards purpose and desire, as well as helping others.

The difference between a drifter and a non-drifter is quite simply this; a non-drifter will use their own mind and think for themselves, planning for the future and working towards it. A drifter is always after the easy way, with little or no thought behind what they do, with no plans or goals to set themselves up in a lifestyle of future comfort and ease.

This article may come across as harsh and I’m not here to malign people who smoke, nor people with addictions, as not every drifter is an addict, nor is every drifter unsuccessful. People who smoke are just more likely to start the ‘drift,’ than those who don’t, according to studies.

Still, those drifters that aren’t getting anywhere in life, need to wake up and think for themselves. They need plan for their future, also to give some sort of service to as many people as possible, for s/he must give before s/he gets. That’s the universal law of reciprocity. What you give out, you get back.

God blesses His people. He blesses those who do His will. It’s that simple. Mostly drifters don’t think to look at God. They poo-poo Him as a figment of imagination, never reading the bible, or searching for themselves, to see if God’s actually real. The drifter has formed his or her idea on the matter and because they don’t think past their personal beliefs, seldom do they take the time to search out the truth of the matter.

If you want a successful life, do as a non-drifter does. Read, learn, study, think for yourselves and watch your life change. I know this to be true for although never a smoker, I was once a drifter myself, unaware of how to set and achieve goals, a disbeliever of God, thinking I was right and others didn’t know what they were talking about. I too, was never taught to set and achieve goals.

I’ve seen changes in my life as I’ve followed the new programming of my mind (which came about through the reading of my bible) and am now successful in many areas of life. I still have some work to do, but I’m a lot further along than I was before I started my journey. I ask you not to disregard the ideas this article has brought forward, but to search out the truth for yourself.

I could give you a list of web addresses, backing up what I’ve written about in this article, but I shall leave it to you to do your own leg work. The non-drifter will take the time to seek the truth, whereas the drifter won’t bother, as they already think they know the truth and while we can never know everything about life, it does help to search out what’s important to living a successful life.

Having said that, some people are quite happy drifting along, slowly marking time without the stress of hard work and that’s fine, if it’s your choice. But, if you feel you aren’t getting anywhere in life, perhaps it’s time to step it up a little, work out where you would like to be, set your intention and aim for that.

Explore The Possibilities.

Want a solution? Get Creative! Explore the endless possibilities.

We all have issues in life, problems we wish to solve. And there are endless possibilities, as to how to go about it.

God’s not only interested in spiritual things, but secular things as well. 3 John 1:2 says; Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

As we grow spiritually, we should also be growing in the other areas of life important to us; our job, relationships, health, finances.

We use the gifts God’s given us, to fulfil His purposes and it’s in the above areas we can show other people how well God helps us to improve those areas.

If we wish to see a change in our life it helps that we aid others to change their life, in the areas we’re struggling in, for what we give away comes back to us.

We don’t have to be rich to bless others. A kind word, a bag of groceries, a few items of used clothing, can bless another. If you’re a hair dresser, cutting the hair of a homeless person is a huge blessing. If you like to bake, a cake for the single mother with four hungry little ones is an enormous help. Do you have an hour to spare, to mow your elderly neighbour’s lawn, or sit with a lonely widow? There are endless ways to bless people. So get creative with your ideas, your items around the house and see what good use you can put them to.

God gives you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. What makes you happy? That’s where you could start. Can you offer more at your job, or are you burnt out? If you’re burnt out, it’s time for a holiday, or a career change. If you think you could offer more, go for it. Help your fellow staff. Help management. You may even try to come up with fresh new ideas, to move your company forward.

To have good ideas, you have to value ideas, for what we value we take care of. If you want more from life, than just drifting through, get creative. Explore options and possibilities.

Don’t throw out any idea. No idea is a silly idea, there are just some which work better than others, for where you are in life. Use your imagination. Allow that imagination plenty of room. Brainstorm with others and see what you can come up with. Sift those ideas, then choose the best one, the one that’s a right fit for you.

You don’t need to know everything about your idea. You learn as you go. Put together a mind map of the steps it will take to get you from A to Z. Work through the obstacles as they front up. Obstacles will show themselves to you, as you follow the steps to bring your idea into fruition.

Find a gap in the market, or an unmet need and fill it. Don’t assume nothing can be done, instead, pray for a way to meet those needs. Rather than think, who do I think I am that I can change this? Think instead; How can I change this? Think about what small step you can make towards solving the problem? Be open to any idea that flows from your questioning.

For the creative person, uncertainty is always on the horizon. Don’t fear uncertainty, for that’s when the mind is working things out. Give your mind time to come up with an answer. Don’t be afraid of anxiety, or failure. They’re all part of the job description.

Creativity requires you go out on a limb and going out on a limb can be scary. Don’t let that stop you. Don’t let ideas that don’t work stop you from trying new ideas either. Keep searching for new ideas. In time something will jump out at you.

God has provided us with all the resources we need, to live an abundant life. He developed chickens that we may create with their eggs. He made sheep, that we may create using their wool. He provided timber, that we may create furniture. We have what we need to do the job, we just require an idea.

Creativity involves work, which is why many don’t go down that path, but God will honour you when you pray for creativity and put your shoulder to the wheel in order to get the job done.

Instead of accepting what is, turn your thinking to what could be. God doesn’t only work within the four walls of church, He works in every area of our lives. So whatever area you wish to change, God can show you a way, if you ask Him.

God wants you to use your imagination, your creativity. It shows Him that you’re living your best life. And when others see how good your life is, they want that life for themselves. That’s how you win souls.

Colossians 3:17 states; And whatever you do in work or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Ask God to reveal your creativity and your talents, that you can help Him with His work. Even in what you’re already doing, a creative idea will aid you to do it better, faster, or more simply. Sometimes you might be breaking new ground, other times you might take an old idea and renew it.

Look at what you’re doing with new eyes and new perspectives, so that you might find opportunity. Ask questions of yourself; how can I do this better, what is a more effective way, is there something new in the market that I could use here? Keep questioning.

The Lord will bring about an answer, whenever you give Him a question. It may not be directly as you ask. The answer may come while you’re in the shower, or going for a run, or even a month later, but if you keep questioning, something will come to the fore which will help.

Pray, question, brainstorm, mind map if you think it will help. Work through the obstacles and possibilities, until you have the solution in front of you. What you think about, you bring about, so all these steps will bring an answer. And when others see how successful you are, they might just ask – what is your secret?

And what is your secret? Christ in us. A fulfilled life, is a God filled life. If you want good success, follow what the Lord is telling you. And you’ll only know what’s in His heart, if you follow His word, if you read the bible and do what He tells you to do.

The bible tells us to eat of the bread and drink of the wine. Communion is just one step, on the road to success and God asks that we do it often, so take of the bread and of the wine, in remembrance of Him, His kingdom work and His great power, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Boundaries of the Mind.

Boundaries of the Mind.

Just as the great wall of China was built to stop raiding nomads, so too did biblical cultures of old use walls for protection, as well as to create boundaries around their settlements. If the walls weren’t continually maintained the enemy would take the advantage and gain entry; a valuable lesson, albeit fateful for the city.

In the same way, we as Christians need to maintain our personal boundaries, if we wish to remain protected in life. We need to ensure the ‘wall of self-control’ is up and guarded, else the enemy will attack.

If we wish to see good success in any endeavour, we need to have solid walls of protection, with well thought out escape plans, should things go awry. And we can only to that with forethought, planning and preparation.

Not only does the bible give you examples of what to do in any given situation, you can also find more examples by following those who’ve succeeded before you.

If you’re waiting for everything to ‘fall together,’ it’s not going to happen. You need to be intentional, to set your intent, if you wish to live a successful life.

Sure, some of us get lucky where everything falls into place easily and effortlessly, but for the rest of us, we need to plan. We need to have preparations in place, for those days when we’re weak and may need more help, more support, more strength, more courage.

The bible is a great place to start. You may not believe in the bible. Perhaps it’s time to give it a go, for how can you argue against what you’ve never read. Be open minded. Start a new thing, for a new thing is always mind altering.

It’s never too late to start either. If you’ve failed up to this point, there’s nothing like turning a page and writing a new chapter in your book of life.

Although broken people take longer to get there, as they have a lot more work to do to overcome their past, it is still doable. You may have to work harder, but it’s not impossible for you to turn your life around.

Plan, prepare, be diligent, be disciplined, follow those who’ve gone before you and succeeded and you to will get there. There’s so much information on success, right at our fingertips these days. There is no excuse for not at least giving it a try.

If the battle becomes too difficult, rest. If you fall down, take a break. Don’t quit though. Get back up, dust yourself off and have another go. You can never lose in anything to which you consistently apply yourself. You just have to keep going, during the learning process.

No, it’s not always going to be easy. Not everything we do in life succeeds. But how will you know if you don’t try? Yes, you are going to have to work for it. It will be worth your efforts, when you see your life turn around. Even if you fail and have to try again, you’ll have learned a lot in the process and will be better armed next time.

So: write the vision and make it plain, as it says in the bible, that he may run who reads it…though it tarry, wait for it, for it will surely come. (Habakkuk 2:2-3)

Spend time with God every day. Work out the steps you’ll need to take to get you where you want to go and go for it. Turn those steps into an action plan. Do it one step at a time and it won’t be so overwhelming. On the difficult days, remember why you started. Keep a journal and mark your progress. In time you will see great success.

Good luck and God bless!

You Can Create Your Own Genius.

You Can Create Your Own Genius.

We’re surrounded by people who are completely unconscious about life.

You’ve been told just how smart, or sadly, how dumb you are. At the time you believed it What if, for those of you who were told you're stupid, you'll never amount to anything, what if you were to challenge the status quo?

The Latin meaning of Intelligence (intelligere) is; to perceive something.

Intelligence sees reality as it is, not as you think it should be.

You perceive with the right side of your brain and think with the left.

We’re taught to fear creativity, imagination, dreams and emotion (right side brain activity). We’re taught intelligent people are rational. But it takes both sides of the brain to work together to produce genius.

You can’t ever lose in anything to which you apply yourself, so in whatever area you choose to go, if you apply yourself, it's only natural that you improve.

Pride blinds the arrogant. They believe they’re so clever, they already know and don’t need to learn.

Without critical thinking and judgement of right and wrong, it’s not possible to truly understand something.

One can’t just accept what one thinks, without studying the issue. When you build your own truth, without any consideration of the real truth, that’s arrogance.

Common agreement doesn’t always mean truth either.

The bible holds the keys to moral truth. The ten commandments of Moses, the two commandments of Jesus, which is all encompassing of Moses’ ten commandments. That's where you’ll find truth and without it, you make up your own truth, a truth which suits you, but one which isn’t necessarily correct.

If one followed biblical principles of the new testament (love your neighbour as yourself) the holocaust would never have happened, neither would slavery, nor child trafficking.

Hitler thought his truth was the correct truth and in his grand illusion, needlessly murdered millions of people. Had he loved his neighbour as himself, world war two would never have happened. Neither would many, many other shocking atrocities have happened, around the world.

Racial murder still goes on today and yet if everyone knew the truth, this could be avoided. We can’t rely on our own truth. We have to rely upon the “real truth,” the moral compass, which is the bible.

It's only from knowing the real truth, that we are set free. Not only does God’s word promises to set you free, it also promises to give you wisdom and that's a good place to start, on you way to becoming a genius.

Should you wish to reach the level of genius, learning and application of learning helps develop intuition.

Logic is a longer path than a person using all their faculties (left and right brain), which directs the brain to a speedier solution of an issue.

Psychological trauma stymies’ mental growth. It takes longer for a victim of trauma to overcome the issues of life. Just as it's harder for a depressed person to learn. Harder, but not impossible.

Your reality exists due to the perception you hold of yourself and if your perception of yourself is low, you can change it.

If you want to gain knowledge; read. Read a lot.

Most of us are trapped by left brain thinking and even then we’re not using it fully.

A person will protect their lie, even if it means destroying those that see the truth.

You can’t end up a success by lowering your intelligence; either through drugs or alcohol. You may convince yourself you’re doing well, but others see through it. In the end someone who uses drugs and alcohol, lowers their awareness of their competency and they believe they’re performing well. You can’t be a genius and use drugs or alcohol, at least not for long. In time it will cause you defeat.

Reading increases intelligence, as does using imagination. You can develop your intelligence. You don’t have to stay ‘stupid.’

Harmonising the brain and the body help adjust the brain to the goal created.

Mind and body harmony manifest the imagined reality (meditation) and help perceive information faster. Meditation and visualisation align the mind/body harmony, bringing about your victory sooner and more easily.

Rich people love to read, as it enhances their knowledge base and increases their intuition.

So, if you want to be rich you have to know what the rich know and then apply what you know.

Read what you don’t know, seek more information on the topic, then apply what you’ve learned. And that’s how you achieve anything you want in life. Without application, it’s all just wishful thinking.

Study those who are great in your field. Understand how they apply, think and do things. Learn their techniques and their rules and you will become successful/famous.

It won’t happen immediately. It takes persistence and patience. And if you quit, it will never happen.

Most accept the truth within and don’t question it, however, it’s only in questioning that we move forward in life.
