May God Grant You According To Your Heart's Desire.

Photograph; Bell Biblical Garden, Bell Qld, Australia.

Luke 10:19

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

The word says in Psalm 20:4; May God grant you according to your heart’s desire and fulfil all your purpose. Psalm 37:4 reads; delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. We are to trample serpents and scorpions, have power over the enemy and the Lord grants us our desires. These are a few of God’s promises to His people.

But how do we access those promises? God gives many promises and yet most of us aren’t seeing them come to fruition in our lives.

You most likely know we’ve been given all power and all authority. Shouldn’t we be seeing greater works by now?

Many of us are falling short of God’s promises and we don’t understand why. After all, we’ve sought God. God says we don’t have, because we haven’t asked. But we have asked; I know we’ve all asked for either a better job, more money, greater health, breaking of addictions, improved relationships, etc. And yet, we still don’t have what we ask for.

We’ve asked for more power and yet we’re still not seeing the results we desire. What we desire is a promise of God’s (He will give you the desires of your heart), so why aren’t we seeing that manifested in our lives?

One reason is; we don’t understand the difference between power and authority. If we ask for more power, but don’t ask for authority, we’re missing 50% of the equation. How do we access authority?

We can’t be wishy-washy Christians.  We have to be all in. We have to stand in our authority; make our decision and not waiver. Jesus shed His blood, that we might have authority. Because of His act on the cross, His taking back the kingdom that Adam and Eve gave up; due to this, Jesus then gave us all authority on the earth.

The way we gain authority is, we access it through relationship with the Father. We attain our authority by drawing close to God. We do that by diligently reading His word, applying His principles, giving thanks, praying, praise and worship, speaking in tongues, regardless of what we see happening around us; regardless of seeing the opposite in our lives. And we do it through the taking of the elements.

God won’t give us more, when we aren’t even using what He’s already given us. Our job is to cast out demons, heal the sick, make the lame walk, the blind see, the deaf hear and to pass the baton to the next generation.

We overcome satan by the word of our testimony to the people. Revelation 12:11 says; and they overcame him (satan) by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony… We need to tell our testimony, to be telling people what God’s done in our lives, if we want to overcome satan’s works in our lives. If you want results, you need to be doing what God’s asking you to do and if you’re not using what God’s already given you, don’t expect more.

There is a difference between power and authority. Power is the miraculous. It’s what we can see. When a new limb is grown, or a kidney is healed, that’s done through power. Authority is what we can’t see. It’s the spiritual side of things, in the heavenly realm. It’s seeing we have it, even when it’s not yet in front of us. And isn’t that what faith is all about? Believing in what we don’t yet see.

When it came to authority, the devil said to the seven sons of Sceva, (these were itinerant Jewish exorcists casting out demons in the name of Jesus, but without a relationship with Jesus) and the devil said to them; Jesus I know and Paul I know, but who are you? Acts 19:15. Satan understood; they didn’t have authority and because of that, the demon actually leapt onto them, overpowered them and prevailed against them.

We need to have a relationship with God, so that we are recognised as one’s with authority. It’s essential that we attain authority. Without it we may have some success, but we won’t have good success.

Part of doing what God wants is for us to take communion. The broken cracker is the represented life of Jesus; the holes in the cracker His piercings, the baked stripes on the cracker, His stripes from the whip across His back. The wine represents the blood that was shed. Why do we take communion? I can give you seven reasons.

Seven sons of Sceva, the leper dipped seven times, God created the world in seven days, there are seven days in a week. There’s a lot in the bible with reference to the number seven. Seven speaks of Jesus perfect sacrifice.

Did you know; the blood was sprinkled seven times over the mercy seat (Leviticus 16:14)? Jesus bled seven times, each wound a significant act in His giving up His life.

Jesus was beaten until bloody.

His beard was plucked out until He bled.

He was struck on the face with a rod, until He bled.

He was whipped, until bleeding.

The crown of thorns cut into His skull and He bled.

Nailed to the cross, His hands and feet bled.

His side pierced, until blood and water came out.

Each of these brought forth a healing to us. Yes, all seven aspects.

We were redeemed by the blood. Cleansed by the blood. Justification given by the blood. Sanctification through the blood. Access to the Father through the blood. Intercession by the Son through the blood and given new life, due to the blood.

These are seven reasons why it’s important to take communion. Let’s do this together now, in remembrance of Him and His sacrifice to us. Thank You Jesus, for Your sacrifice for the redemption of my sins, for cleansing, justification, sanctification, access to the Father, intercession and the new life, that I have through You. I praise You. I worship You. I honour You. I acknowledge You as the One True God. In Jesus mighty name. Amen.

The Wisdom of King Solomon

The Wisdom of King Solomon

Before reading this segment, I would like to encourage the reader to first glance through the passages of 1 Kings 3:5-28, from the bible. In doing so, you will have greater understanding of the following written work.

King Solomon asked for wisdom above all else and the Lord gave him wisdom and the Lord was pleased, as He told Solomon He would grant his request. It wasn’t long after, King Solomon was asked to judge a case, between two women, who each claimed that the one child was hers.

Neither of the women’s names were mentioned in these passages; either due to their low standing in society, or the fact that the names weren’t needed to mark the story. King Solomon’s name wasn’t used either and this could be attributed to the fact that 1 Kings had mentioned him already, in relation to gaining wisdom, but also due to the King being so high and mighty; perhaps the writer didn’t feel the need to mention his name again, for everyone would know just who King Solomon was and who the author was referring to.

King Solomon was placed in an extremely unique situation. Having been given a dream where God bestowed wisdom upon him, that wisdom was soon to be tested. The fact that Solomon came out of that test, with all of Israel fearing the King for the wisdom to judge, acknowledging that the Lord had given this wisdom to him, settled it in the eyes of the Israelites.

As Christians, we are to never doubt the bible and the biblical accounts they represent. So how do we reconcile today’s view, upon yesterday’s happenings?

Not to take away from the wisdom God imparted to King Solomon, we must remember Solomon had been raised by a warrior King, his father, King David. Solomon knew how to intimidate. Although not a man of battle himself, he’d have no doubt heard the war stories his father told around the dinner table at night. He’d heard of the strategies used in battle, of what worked and what didn’t.

Solomon also had 300 concubines and 700 wives. Do you think it stopped there? Do you not consider for a minute, that he may have used (to refer to the biblical writings in this section) ‘harlots’ to appease his manly appetites, whenever the mood struck him? Why so many concubines and wives? Were the women afraid of his retaliation, if they refused his advances? Perhaps his father’s reputation preceded King Solomon and perhaps women were afraid to say no to the King.

Women in the Arabic regions weren’t allowed out on their own (many still aren’t allowed out on their own today). Women had to be accompanied by a male; a brother, uncle, husband. Why would two unaccompanied women; two harlots, come to the King and ask him to judge their case?

Did they know him personally, or had they just heard of his great wisdom and felt they could get an answer to their dilemma: Whose child is it, the One or the Other?

Could it have been the King’s child? Could the King have been so flippant, as to decide to cut the child in two, especially if it was his? Was he sick of all the bickering of a thousand women around him? And so just quickly decided the matter, with no empathy to the plight of the women he so readily used, if he had used them? Maybe they weren’t part of his harem, but maybe he still felt the same way; demeaning women in general, as they held so little value to him.

The story leaves a lot out and it’s not our job to make things up as we go along, so there are no answer to these questions. All I’m wanting to do is to bring clarity and understanding, with the knowledge we have.

A man, lording it over his concubines, his wives and possibly all women. A man with a reputation to uphold. Do you not think, Solomon asking his servant to bring his sword, that wouldn’t be a slight bit intimidating to the young women? Did they fear his anger, fear a reprisal, for coming to him seeking answers?

‘Working women.’ Women, shall we say, coming from a shadier side of life, regardless of their choice to do so, or perhaps their forced circumstances.

With their names withheld, these women were referred to as the One woman and the Other woman. One woman was made to be the good, honest woman and the Other woman to be the liar, or the bad woman in the story. What if there is no good or bad? What if intimidation was a factor?

Strong women might stand up to a King, whereas a weaker woman probably won’t. Was the King truly justified in judging the case in the manner in which he did? From a legal standpoint today, the answer would be no. The Other woman may have thought it better the child be killed, than he be raised by another mother. Whereas the One woman may have been more empathetic to the child’s plight, than to allow him to be cut in half by the sword, whether or not she was the mother of the child.

Life in King Solomon’s era was barbaric. And while today, we wouldn’t settle an argument in such a manner, it wasn’t uncommon to threaten and carry-out brutal treatment in biblical times. And so, while we do believe the account of the story of 1 Kings 3:5-28, today we certainly wouldn’t judge a case based on intimidation, fear, love and empathy, but on fact and evidence; evidence that wasn’t available in King Solomon’s day.

Let God’s Glory Shine.

(Photograph: Lake Cargelligo N.S.W Australia.)

Let God’s Glory Shine.

Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1

God will develop your character, before he promotes you to work for Him. He can't use someone unstable in their ways; well, He can, because He's God, but He is less likely to use unstable people.

You need the 9-character traits: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These traits are spoken of in Galatians 5:22

They are commonly known as; True Christian Trait Characteristics. If you can't work with God on this, it's unlikely God will call you to a deeper level. You want that deeper level. It’s essential to have that deeper level, if you wish to see mountains move in your sphere of influence.

It's not that He can't use you. He uses broken people all the time, it's just that He wants to see His character displayed through you, and if you work with Him, He will develop you towards that end. When we call ourselves Christians and if we're not displaying His character, we're letting not so much God down, as the people around us down.

We need to be loving, patient, kind, gentle, self-controlled, etc. Many people in the world call Christians hypocrites, as many Christians don't show these Godly characteristics. Our job is to advance the kingdom, not be seen as hypocrites and we need to be doing our best to ensure this is what’s happening; to ensure this is what we’re showing to the world around us.

People see what you do. In fact, people are always watching what you do, particularly if you’re calling yourself a Christian. They’re watching to see if you are a hypocrite or not. You need to be displaying “good fruit” all the time.

Is it easy? No. Do we fail? Yes, of course we do at times, for we’re all imperfect. When we fail, our job then is to quickly repent, ask forgiveness and to do better next time.

Don't think you can't change. Ask yourself how you can change. Better still; ask God how you can change. We can all change, but it takes effort. It takes bringing every emotion and thought into captivity and not letting our thoughts, or emotions run away with us.

The bible says to take every thought captive. 2 Corinthians 10:5 states; “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” What does the bible mean by taking every thought captive?

It means not allowing those thoughts of alcohol, pornography, anger, rage, gluttony, gambolling and any number of other means the devil can use, as a foothold into your mind. It means taking control of your mind, taking control of your particular sin. Not dwelling on the sin, but casting out any thought that might lead you further in to sin.

Stop that thought, as soon as it enters your mind. The sooner you cast out the sin thought, the less you’re likely to act on that thought. For we sin in our mind first. That’s why the bible says in Matthew 5:28 “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Jesus said that because He knows; the thought comes first, then the action. Get rid of the thought and the action won’t follow.

Hebrews 12:1 says; …let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us… In other words; take your mind off the sin which easily ensnares you and turn it to what God would like to see you do in this moment.

You see, the devil will never tempt me with alcohol and he knows it. Sugar; that’s an easier temptation for me and the devil knows that too. Sugar for me, is the sin which easily ensnares. It’s something I’ve used in the past and now that I’ve overcome my addiction, I still need to be mindful that I don’t fall again. Does it mean I have to cut out every ounce of sugar? No, I can be mindful, but it took a lot of work on my part to get to this point.

For some though, that answer is yes, cut out every ounce. If you unleash the beast, so to speak; if your sin is sugar and whenever you have it, you can’t stop and if it’s affecting your health or happiness, then yes, cut out every ounce of sugar. It may not be sugar. It may be cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, pornography. If you find you can’t control it, cut it out and don’t take it up again. Be determined.

I’ve heard it said it only takes 30 days to form a habit. Can you cut out the sin which easily ensnares you, for just 30 days? What if you cut it out for today only, and then tomorrow and then the day after? Go as far as you can and when you give in to temptation, start again straight away and try for another day. Eventually you’ll find strategies that work and you’ll notice you can go longer and longer, until eventually you don’t need that addiction any more.

Addiction is usually a need which has come about through pain, or trauma. As God heals the different areas in your life, you’ll find you’re not in pain any more and you’ll find it easier and easier to do what’s right and healthy in your life.

Once the addiction leaves you, you can then help others who are still stuck in their addictions. We’re put on this earth, not for our own gain, but to help others in any way we can. At this time of life in the world today, it seems to be ‘anything goes,’ as long as it makes you happy, but that’s not what Jesus says. Doing what makes you happy, doesn’t always mean doing what’s good for you. You need to know what Jesus says, so you can overcome the difficulties in your life.

What does Jesus say? Jesus tells us to follow Him, to do as He does and what does He do? He heals the sick, makes the lame walk and casts out demons. He’s given us the tools, through His word. He’s given us the authority through His death on the cross and now it’s up to us. Shine your light in all its glory. Show God and His glory to all the world. That’s why you’re here. That’s your purpose in life.

My Testimony

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither,

And whatsoever they do shall prosper.

(Psalm 1:2-3 NKJV)

Some time ago my Pastor spoke about stretching and I wrote this because I’m the living testimony of what stretching can do.

Many of us fall short of our capabilities. If we would only stretch, we could go a lot further in life.

Do you know God can bend time? Isaiah 38:8 says: “Behold, I will bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backwards.” So the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down. (NKJV)

Because God consistently elongates my days, I’m truly amazed at how much I can accomplish and yet never be in a hurry. He bent time for me, as I stretched and needed more of it, to achieve what I set out to do.

God says to give Him a portion of our money and He will add more to it. He does the same thing with time. Give Him the first part of your day and He will make your day longer. I can attest to this, because this is what’s happened in my life.

God also asks that we trust Him, step out in faith, believing we shall accomplish what we set out to do, and it will happen. For many of us, that’s a stretch of faith.

He states He’s not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). For me personally, that too is a stretch at times.

I have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16 tells me so and I believe it. To win in this life, in this partnership with the Lord, you have to believe every jot and tittle in the bible. For there are incredibly wealthy people out there; successful people who may make a lot of money, but fail in relationships. Or win at relationships, but fail in the area of finance. If we want to win in every area of our life, we must believe in the bible and do what it tells us to do.

Anyway, because I have the mind of Christ, you can introduce me to 30 people and I’ll remember 29 names (hey, I’m not perfect, but 29 out of 30 isn’t too bad). Because I have the mind of Christ, you can give me a one-hundred-digit number and I can relay it back to you – forwards and backwards. But I wasn’t always like this. I had to stretch to get there.

Things come at us in life and we say to ourselves; “I’ll never do that again” and we erect a wall. In the end, we erect so many walls, we’ve boxed ourselves in. We’re safely cocooned inside our 4 walls, but we’re not living life.

That was me 25 years ago. Although I grew up in a very loving home, I was still full of fear. Too scared to say boo to a goose. I was painfully shy. I figured I was born that way and there was nothing I could do about it, but I was wrong.

25 years ago, I didn’t like me very much. I didn’t talk to people. I didn’t have too much to say because I wasn’t doing anything. Yes, I had young children then and was doing my best for them, but outside that, I felt I had nothing to offer the world. I believed I was boring to be around and no one wanted to hear anything I had to say.

At that point in time, I was depressed, well overweight, had asthma, arthritis, psoriasis and hay fever. My relationship with my husband was pretty poor and we were pretty poor. Poverty was a constant at that time. Suicidal thoughts were also a constant with me.

One day, I walked out the door with the intention of taking my life but couldn’t do it. My daughters were eight and ten. A week later a work colleague of my husband’s committed suicide. I was so angry with God. Why did He take him and not me?

I hadn’t been a born-again Christian long, when this happened. Just 2 years. My life initially hadn’t changed much in that 2 years. I expected more, in becoming a Christian and it didn’t appear to be happening. I also didn’t understand about co-labouring with God. I didn’t understand about stretching, but I was about to lean.

When this colleague committed suicide, I was mad at God. “Why did you take him and not me?” I cried out in my despair. I distinctly remember His reply. It was the first time I heard the audible voice of God. He replied; “Because you’re a lamb of My flock and I never lose one of My own.” I knew then, I’d never attempt suicide again. And it was then I realised – I needed to change. I started reading self-help books.

And so, the stretching began.

I did a speed reading and memory course from home and over the next 2 years, read over 200 books. Everything, from the biblical, to positive thinking, to investing and how to succeed in life. That was me stretching.

Then I stretched again and took a 2-day course, because 2 days was all I felt I could manage. I was so shy, had so little confidence in my abilities that I knew I had to start small and I became a Justice of the Peace.

This tiny step of stretching out of my comfort zone, gave me a little more courage and so I stretched further. I opened myself up to try more and more new things.

As I walked with God, (spent time with Him, reading my bible and in prayer every day) my health improved. I no longer have any health issues. It was like the time Jesus healed the ten lepers; as they went, they were cleansed. Only one leper came back to say thank you and he was the only one of the ten, who was made whole.

I don’t know in what way. Was he made whole in that his fingers and nose grew back? Was he made whole in his finances, as now that he was healed and able bodied, he could work? Was he made whole in his relationships, for no longer was he ostracised from society? We don’t know. The bible doesn’t say in what way he was made whole, but I think he was made whole in every area, just as I have been. For all that, there is one thing I do know; we need to remember to give thanks, when Jesus moves in our life.

So, I no longer have any health issues. My relationships improved, I lost weight, I grew out of poverty and no longer suffer the depression I’d lived with for so many years.

Recently I was asked how I got over the depression. It gave me pause for thought, because it had gone from my life and I didn’t particularly think I did anything. However, when I pondered further on it, the Holy Spirit brought to mind; I no longer listen to the devil and his negative words upon my life. I take every thought captive. Every thought.

It has been some years since I thought about depression and during those times, I remembered God’s words. The Holy Spirit brought them back to me now. I used to say them: think upon what’s true, noble, right, admirable, pure and lovely and don’t give the devil a foot hold. If I started to spiral downhill, I’d say to the devil: Get lost you gnat. You’re less than a flea and I’m not listening to you. Then I’d recite bible verses, the ones which would edify and build me up. I refused to listen to the devil tear me down. Once the devil understands he has no effect on you, he leaves. He can no longer bother me with tormenting thoughts.

God says to write the vision and make it plain, that he may run that readeth it…though it tarries, wait for it, for it will surely come.

So, I wrote the vision. I wrote what I wanted to see in happen in my life. And I waited. I wasn’t idle though. I was learning all the while, as I waited.

My dream was to trade shares, write and travel as I did so and there were times I felt I’d never make it. Satan did his best, but I kept the faith and I’m now living the dream.

Because I stretched myself and my faith, because I took God’s word as truth, I am now thrilled to say, I no longer feel boring. My dream is in full swing. Where I used to clean motels and wash dishes, I’m now an investigative photojournalist and author, who trades currency and commodities on the global stock exchange, while travelling the countryside; sometimes in my car, sometimes in my little caravan.

I’ve written books that have made it onto Amazon’s best seller lists, taken award winning photographs, had my written work printed in newspapers and magazines. And a blog, which is a lot of fun, even if I didn’t know what I was doing initially. In hindsight, I should have had 2 blogs; one for my written work and one for my recipes, for I do love to cook. But we live and learn.

I managed to retire ten years early (something I never saw coming) and now am seeing my fruit, my grandchildren, prosper and overcome, for the Lord blesses our children and our children’s children to a thousand generations.

One granddaughter is too little yet, but the other is sport’s captain at her school. She’s made the cricket team, the soccer team, went to the regional races for sprinting and has won awards in Jujitsu. She was also one of the few in her school, chosen to go to the leadership conference and the writer’s festival. Last year she was environmental officer and library monitor. (None of this, would I have had the courage for at school and yet here she is; going for it all.) God is blessing my family.

We need to practice the principles to partake of the promises. My daughter and I purchased our house together. We weren’t in big income jobs, both being in the disability field at this time. Initially we paid a tithe of less than 10%, until we could afford to pay more, but we were diligent tithers. We stayed within our financial means and didn’t buy anything outside our home with credit, for the Lord states we’re to be lenders, not borrowers.

Recently we sold our home and my daughter just paid cash for her own house. I’m still looking for my forever home and I know it will come, when the time is right. My daughter’s dream was to be a UNI student (which she couldn’t do while paying a mortgage) and she’s doing that right at the moment, now that she’s settled in her own place. My other daughter is studying in a field she never felt she could accomplish and yet here she is, passing every exam. These children are the treasures in my house. They all are.

I don’t say any of this out of pride or to boast, but to show you; God blesses His people as He promises He will.

During this stretching process, yes, I failed at times. But I learned more through my failures than through my successes. God asks us to try, then he refines us through our failures. And He can use everything we go through, the good, the bad and the ugly. So, don’t dismiss yourself as a failure. You may have failed at something, but you’re still a success in God’s eyes, for just having the faith to give it a try.

I’ve heard God (The Holy Spirit) speak many times, since that first time. Sometimes He lights the path ahead, sometimes He lights only the next step, but somehow I muddle through, as I continually plug away.

God is all powerful and we can do all things through Him who strengthens us.

He’s geared everything in our favour. If you stretch yourself out of your comfort zone (which although terrifying at times, can actually be quite fun), but if you stretch and never quit, you’ll be surprised just how far God can take you.

I’ve had colossal enjoyment, as I’ve stretched myself out of my comfort zone. I’ve corresponded with world renown trading gurus, artists, poets, photographers of some repute, other authors (large and small) and I’ve even had a phone call from Big Arnie. Yes, that’s right, Arnold Schwarzenegger called, inviting me to a seminar he was holding in Sydney. Okay, it was a recorded message, but it was enormous fun (for we all know his voice is quite distinctive) and it all happened, when I stepped out of my comfort zone.

The crowds left and Jesus asked His disciples; “Do you want to leave too?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, who would we go to? You have the words that give eternal life.”

Don’t ever leave God’s side. Don’t ever quit, for where will you go? God cannot work in your life if you quit. Stick with Him, through all your trials and tribulations. Praise Him in the midst of them and you will come out the other side as refined gold, removed of any dross.

And just a little side note…

My husband had a football sized tumour removed from his abdomen a number of years ago. He initially thought it was just a beer belly, until it was so large, it interfered with his breathing. So off to the doctor he went.

The tumour was removed and found to be benign and no further treatment was necessary, except follow-up checks.

Since then, he’d been going for check-ups every 6 months to be sure the growth didn’t return and at some point, in one of the check-ups, they found nodules in John’s lungs.

During this time John also had a knee replacement. The fellow who took the scans of his knee couldn’t believe John was still walking. John’s doctor said: “Oh John, this knee is shot.”

Shortly after, I broke my wrist. I broke it in 3 places and crushed the forearm, so no minor thing. I don’t like to say blessing in disguise, because at the end of the day, God doesn’t give us illness, but still, at the time it was a blessing of sorts and a whole other long story.

After his knee replacement, John’s doctor sent the surgeon a letter saying the healing of John’s knee was the fastest she’d seen go through her doors.

Interestingly I had the same surgeon for my broken wrist, as John had for his knee replacement and the surgeon said I had healed very fast. I told him that’s because I’m blessed.

Then he treated John and got the letter from John’s doctor saying it was the fastest healing she’d ever seen. I put this down to prayer and wondered if the doctor remembered me and did he realise; we’d both healed fast and well.

At the time of one of these 6-month checks, they found cancer nodules in John’s lungs, as I mentioned. I said to John; “Nope. You’ve already been healed of cancer. I’m going to pray they dissipate and disappear.”

At the first check-up they found the nodules hadn’t grown. That in itself was something. At the second check-up they found the nodules had shrunk. John remembered I’d said I was going to pray they dissolve and disappear and he told the doctor about it.

I found this to be quite amusing, as my husband is an atheist (who I decree and declare to be the man of God, God designed him to be), and he was witnessing to the doctor and didn’t even know it.

And the third check-up; John was declared cancer free. As I mentioned, John’s an atheist. It wasn’t John’s faith which healed him. God healed John because a believer believed.

You see, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, be thou removed and it shall be cast into the sea. Our mountain was moved. It was 10 years between the initial diagnosis and being declared cancer free. 10 years of holding onto faith, until we saw the fullness of our prayers complete.

Never quit, until you see the desires of your heart transpire. For God not only promises to meet your needs, He also promises; you shall have the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

John 15:7 If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it shall be done for you.

Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.

Having said we need to practice the principles to partake of the promises, it isn't about our works, or what we do, as long as we accept Christ. As a righteous child of God, we are acceptable, just as we are. So, ask away my friend and expect great results.

Live The Life Of Your Dreams.

Live The Life OF Your Dreams.

Life is built on dreams. Dream away child. Dream your way into adulthood and watch where your path takes you. As an adult, dream away anyway. Don’t stop dreaming. Don’t stop envisioning the life you want. Dare to take that chance, to turn your dream into reality.

A life of dull repetition is not the way a child of God was supposed to live. Doing the same thing day in and day out; bored, depressed, in a rut. What is your passion? What is it that causes your heart to leap with joy? What is your dream?

Dare to wonder how to bring that dream into reality. Read, study, learn what it takes to be successful in your field of dreams. If you’re feeling fear; feel the fear and do it anyway. Do it on a smaller scale, if you’re worried about losing what you’ve already worked so hard for.

As we get older, it becomes harder to take risks. We don’t want to go backwards, as it’s too difficult to recover when we don’t have so many years ahead, as behind. If you’re more mature, don’t risk all you have, but also don’t stay in a rut.

Work on the little things you can do to improve where you are, what you want and where you want to go. It doesn’t have to all be done today. Baby steps, one step in front of the other.

The bible says: Write the vision and make it plain, that he may run who reads it… though it tarry wait for it, for it will surely come. (Habakkuk 2:2-3)

Write the dream. Write the steps you need to take to get you there and take those steps every day, for one day it will surely come. Don’t ever stop, until you see that dream a reality in your life.

Dust yourself off if you fall down, but take another step. Don’t quit, for the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak and it will not lie. (Hab 2:3)

This isn’t just a biblical promise. Those of the ‘positive thinking’ sway, also write their goals, or make vision boards for easy visualization of where they’re headed. Looking every day at their goals help the reader remain positive, focussed and on track and that’s what we’re to do, if we want to see our vision realised in our life.

If you want good success, if you want to see your dream fulfilled, turn to God for, God promises life and life more abundantly and there is no higher word than His, for He swears above His own name, that you can trust in the One who’s given you the dream. You can trust He will bring your dream to pass. Even when it tarries – trust.

Those of the ‘positive thinking’ sway, working on their goals without the input and power of God, miss an important element in successful living. Positive thinking is a false movement, a carnal movement, a movement without the aid of God. And while positive thinking does work to a point, it’s better to have God on board, as you work towards your dreams and desires.

God will bring a power and a truth, that positive thinking alone can’t. I was travelling in my little caravan once, when the Holy Spirit gave me a nudge. We’d just turned on the motor of the car and were about to pull out of a caravan park when I heard; Check the brake on the van. Sure enough, the brake to the van was still in the lock position.

You won’t get that with positive thinking. You only get that, as a child of God. God speaks and if we listen, we’ll go a long way.

The bible is full of the wisdom for successful living. It tells you how to maintain relationships, how to manage finances, speaks of ways to live a healthy and happy life. If life isn’t what you thought it should be, get into the word of God and He will direct your steps. It’s never too late to start either.

I know. I’ve been there. No belief in the bible, or God, whatsoever. Now I’m living the life of my dreams and I accredit it to having faith. I’ve turned my life around 160 degrees and life is full of fun, excitement, love, good health and prosperity. It all started, when I started to believe in God, His word and His promises.

So, get into the word (bible) and get going, towards a new and exciting life, a life of abundance which God has promised to those who will follow Him.

The Unshakable, Immovable Rock.

         The Unshakeable, Immovable Rock.

                          The Great I Am.

As Christians, we are in a war and the war never ends. Satan will consistently barrage us with strife, fear, illness, negative mental images of ourselves, imaginings of self-rejection thoughts, and much more.

The only way to win the war is to fight; constantly. We strengthen and grow our faith, as we read His word and believe what it says. Strive, battle, conquer, overcome - we shall have victory. How do I know? Because God says so, in His word. And God doesn't lie.

1 John:5-4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.

It’s hard to live in a place of poor, to no results. It’s hard to keep that faith, when we don’t see any change. A lack of change, a lack of positive results which carries on for years, makes it hard to stay in the fight and not give up. But what is faith, if it isn’t the hope of seeing what we don’t yet see?

Romans 8:24-25 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope, for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

You can’t go AWOL, when the battle is raging. You have to stick it out (persevere) to the end. How will you know when you’re reached the finish line? When you see what you’ve prayed for come to pass. If you’re not seeing it yet, you’re still in the battle. Your job is to keep fighting, to never give up until you have the victory, until you have what you’ve asked for.

And when you have what you’ve asked for, remember to give thanks to the great and mighty God. You kept the faith. You continued the fight. In doing so, the Lord brought you the winning result, because you didn’t give up. You were like the woman with the unjust judge. She kept pestering, until he gave her what she asked for, lest she wear him down.

Luke 18:3-5 Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him (the judge), saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this woman troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’

Unlike the unjust judge, God is never wearied, however, keep asking, seeking, knocking and one day that door will open. Your dedication and perseverance to God, to His word and His promises, is what will open the door and bring those promises to pass in your life.

Just a little aside: I was listening to a minister who went to bible college. He mentioned, out of the 130 students in his class, only 3 were still preaching 30 years later.

There’s a lot who don’t make the distance, who don’t finish the race, who give up and quit. Don’t be one of them, because it’s only in finishing the race, that we receive the prize.

Believe God. Believe His word is truth and can be trusted. Don’t be swayed or moved. Trust in Him; the unshakable, immovable rock – the Great I Am – during the storms of your life and you will be victorious.

He Shall Direct Your Paths.

Lean not on your own understanding.

He shall direct your paths.

Sampson is often remembered for his killing of the Philistines, collapsing the pillars of the stadium and killing many, including himself. What’s often overlooked is that he was meant to overcome the Philistines and that he was judge over Israel for 20 years. God’s spirit empowers the judges at times, and even though they’re corrupt, God can still use them.

Right from the start, Samson was to take from the Philistines, 30 tunics, which is why he said the riddle, offering a wager. Judges 14:14; … out of the eater came something to eat, and out of the strong came something sweet. He was so sure of himself, he knew no one could answer the riddle. His weakness for women pressing upon him was his downfall, as he told his wife the answer to the riddle and she blabbed.

He would have received thirty pieces linen and 30 sheets, but because he couldn’t keep it to himself, he lost the wager, although he made it known; it was his wife’s doing. Before the sun went down…i.e. before the consummation of the wedding, he found out her betrayal.

In his anger he killed 30 Philistine’s and honoured his pledge with their clothing, giving that clothing to the men who ‘supposedly’ guessed the answer to his riddle. He then left in a rage.

The father of the wife gave his daughter to Samson’s best man, assuming Samson wouldn’t come back for her after her betrayal to Samson. When he finally returned and found his wife had been given to someone else, again he was aroused to anger. He set foxes tails alight and burnt the crops, then went and dwelt in the cleft a rock.

This burning of the crops in turn caused the Philistines to burn the father and daughter to death, as an act of revenge, after which Samson killed a thousand men with the closest thing at hand; ‘a donkey jawbone’ and Samson became judge of the people of Israel for 20 years

Samson was a promiscuous, violent and arrogant man, who lusted after women. Lust caused Samson’s downfall, as he met a harlot, and while with her, was surrounded by his enemies. He escaped, after which the story moves to Delilah, where he was eventually captured through her pressing and Samson was taken captive. His hair cut and eyes plucked out.

Sometimes we do the same thing over and over, without learning the reason, or solving the issue; or turning to God for our answers. If Samson had followed God, rather than the lusts of his flesh, things would have gone very differently for him.

The story of Judges then moves to Micah. Micah is a contraction of the name Micayehu; ‘who is like Jehovah’, and is one of several memorable transactions in the book of Judges. The story appears to jump from Samson to Micah, and are seemingly unrelated to each other, until one looks a little deeper into both stories.

Micah idolizes money, or he wouldn’t have stolen from his own mother. A closer look at Samson, shows he had his own idolatry (which is a sin, as is adultery a sin, both of which Samson was doing (intermixing) with all the women he lusted after). As a Nazarite, dedicated to God for as long as he lived, Samson certainly shouldn’t have been having affairs.

The stories of Judges aren’t in order and Micah is said to have been written after Joshua had died and before the Israelites had elected a judge to rule between the people and between one another. During this time the commandments of Moses were lost to the nations and every man did what was right in their own eyes. (Sounds much like today, doesn’t it?)

Micah stole from his mother, incidentally, the same figure of money that Delilah was offered if she could find Samson’s weakness - 1100 pieces of silver. His mother initially curses Micah, so it’s understood here that she knows it was him who stole from her.

He eventually returns the money and instead of being angry the mother blesses her son and between them, they decide to put the money to good use, turning the money into an idol and they set up idol worship within their home and community.

When every man does what is right in his own eyes, it is evil before the Lord. Today we have the bible to keep us on track. Today, we know what’s right, if we’re following the bible.

Micah and his mother had sincere intentions, but were in ignorance and delusion. Right biblical teaching had fallen by the wayside, since Joshua’s death and the death of all the other elders, under Joshua’s leadership.

Micah goes as far as to set his son’s to be priests at this time in history, as there was no judge. In setting his son’s and with sincere intentions, but wrong ideas, this caused cycles which move the nations in a downward spiral. Eventually Israel would sin again and so it would be another downward spiral of wrong-doing.

The stories in Judges are a warning not to turn away from God’s leading. A sobering explanation of the human condition, and the need to follow God. To turn away from our own understanding and turn from doing what appears right in our own eyes and yet are wrong in the eyes of the Lord.

It’s said that outward losses drive good people to prayer, but bad people to curse. Let’s be good people, driven to prayer and the word of God, during our testing times.

Proverbs 3:5-6; Trust the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
